What we learned from the last experiment was that the rocket wasn’t dropping is fuel fast enough and was trying to take off carrying the full weight.
We needed to find a way to expel the fuel faster, so may be a cork in the bottle instead of a nozzle. Sticking with the 25g baking soda and 300g vinegar ratio.
Didn’t work as well as expected – the plastic cork leaked. Need to find a better cork!
Next was a much smaller rocket. 5g baking soda, 40g vinegar was enough to fill it completely.
Smaller rocket worked much better with it’s little red stopper! Just needs to be stabilzed somehow.
Third test was using sauce bottle from Moore Wilson. Came with a little yellow stopper. 17g baking soda, 200g vinegar. First attempt the stopper was too loose, and 2nd was maybe a little too tight as it needed a prod to fire.
We’ve decided to progress with the smaller rocket so, next step is to build fins and a better launch pad to try to stabilize it better.
